The Crumb & Cream Journey

By the age of two I was standing on a chair at the counter next to my GrandBetty, ready to dump the ingredients of her famous poundcake into the mixer. The sweet vanilla aroma of batter baking would fill the whole house and I was sure there couldn’t possibly be anything more intoxicating. Even as an adult, I still hold true to that sentiment. Though baking has always been part of my life in some way or another, it wasn’t until my son turned one that I realized I was as equally enchanted with cake decorating. It started with a few cheap piping tips and some youtube videos and developed into a full-blown obsession. Since 2017 I have poured myself into my baking passion, baking cakes for loved ones on their birthdays, soaking up as much knowledge as I could from books and blogs, and spending every spare minute I could manage trying out recipes in the kitchen. I began making short videos for social media so others could enjoy watching a snippet of how a cake is created, which allowed me to bring a fun social aspect to my practice. The encouragement and stream of requests made me realize that after 4 years of practice and growing it was time to turn my hobby into a business. Though intense and frightening, it has been exhilarating to realize my dream. I couldn’t have made it this far without the love and support from my family, friends, and community.
